slant transforms the museum’s lower floor into a shifting field of body, language, architecture, and scent. Organza hangs between pillars, showing and withholding at once. The walls of a corridor lean to the side, tilting the passage until it unsettles the step. The scent of Hedione moves through rooms whose walls bear words following the horizon lines of a speculative landscape. Architecture is something closer to a body, shaped as it is walked, perceived, remembered, felt. In reading a room as a body, the performers Kameron Locke, Hannah Mehler and martín m. wollmann inhabit this space in movement, song, and touch. In this queer proposition, bodies lean off the vertical and find their orientation toward another horizon.
On these pages, the exhibition and performance find another space to move through. a minor spread retraces a possible path, a meeting of the performers, a memory of a song, a residue of a scent. Along this path, contributions by marce norbert hörler, Gianni Jetzer, Jonathan Lauwers, martian m. mächler, Lubomira (Luba) Nurse, lean rüegg, Monica Unser, Nadia Veronese, Andri Vöhringer, and Polly Wright take the exhibition and the performance as their material. Each speaks from within the work, in its own key. In multiple voices, these readings stay close to the fleeting, the atmospheric, the traces left behind.
